Overall Personality:
Severus Snape does not change easily. His personality stays fairly constant throughout his life, his reasons and actions however, do change. Severus Snape is the kind of person who if you get him angry, he will hate you for the rest of his life. And then he’ll hate your children. That really matters if you actually get him angry. There is the kind of angry that is temporary with Severus, but very few know when that is, and when that isn’t. The Marauders are a perfect example of this. He hates them, and in the future he tortures Harry, one of their kids. And he reveals Remus’s werewolfness. And he takes every opportunity to make Sirius’s life hell. And Peter. Well, let’s just say he’s getting a workout as his slave *ahem* servant.
Severus was once the kind of kid that would cry. Oh just picture little baby Sev crying his eyes out because he accidently hurt his worn little teddy bear. Yes. Severus Snape had a teddy bear until he was about 5 years old. His mother got it for him. But that’s not what is important here. He was the type who was a very emotional little kid. Until his father got to him. It took him five years to learn not to show when he was upset, getting hit so many times until he got the message. Severus threw his teddy bear away, much to his mother’s dismay and became the type of kid who showed little to no emotion. His dad liked that. Except… if he were to express his opinion… whap! Sev learned not to hand out his opinion, especially around his dad. Sev had no friends at all until he met Lily. And even then he had only her until Hogwarts. Then the Italians and Vinny and others came in. Thing is… they all are getting busy or hate him (in Lily’s case) and so he feels he has no other choice but to turn to the Death Eater friends. He isn’t really supposed to help out with the brewing Civil War, and he doesn’t get to see his friends that are part of it very often. Thing with Sev is, even in the future, he likes to feel like he belongs (though in the future he tells himself not belonging anywhere is his punishment for effectively killing Lily). He doesn’t feel he belongs with his foreign friends, though he still considers them friends, but with the Death Eaters, he does feel he belongs with them, and they accept him and see him as important.
Despite Sev’s incredible aptitude for Potions and Dark Arts, he is brutal on himself. He demands perfection in everything he does. He darn near does do things perfect to him too. Thing is, he also will beat himself up if he makes one little slip up, and never forgive himself. He, himself, is not an exception to anything. He holds a grudge against himself in the future for effectively killing Lily, and he holds himself up to the perfection standards he has, thanks to his ‘oh so loving’ father. He will hold all of his students to his standards as well. And he will be mean, petty, and perhaps childish in his insistence on such perfection, relying on sarcasm and insults to get those results from his students in the future.
Despite everything, Sev has a very high capacity for love. More so than anyone could ever guess do to his impeccable ability to hide feelings (except when he was so worried for Lil y when he realized what he had done by telling Voldemort the part of the prophecy he had heard). When he loves someone, he will never stop loving them, no matter how angry or how much he will never forgive them for. Such as Lily, or Vinny (as a friend of course) or even Chris and Mari. He’ll love them until the day he dies, and his love would never waver. Sev can fool himself into thinking he loves someone, such as a friend or Voldemort, but if he realizes it is just himself fooling himself, he may snap out of it (his trickery to himself was powerful, but not as strong as his love for Lily, which snapped him out of it). During his last two years at Hogwarts, he thought he believed he loved Voldemort and the Death Eaters, but really, it was simply the fact his want to belong overpowered everything else.

Parents: Tobias Elias Snape and Eileen Katherine Snape (Prince), 45 and 39 (11 and 5 in Riddle), Business Man and House Wife, Muggle and Slytherin, Marauder
Siblings: None
Hometown: Cokeworth
Current Residence: Spinner’s End
Overall History:
Severus was born at a bad time for his parents. They were about to get divorced, but then Eileen got pregnant and they decided to stay together for the child. It would have been better if they just divorced. Severus was born to the two parents and they both loved him in their own way. Tobias had a nasty, nasty temper, which wasn’t good for the newborn baby, and since Eileen wasn’t the type to stand up for much, Severus got the bad end of the stick. Though Eileen did keep Tobias from damaging the boy permanently (physically at least, psychologically is a complete different story). He was a strong willed young boy, but eventually succumbed after about 5 years. Then he became more anti-social and subservient. Severus always resented his abusive father, for as long as his memory goes back. Severus even says he never loved his father. But Sev did love his mother, despite her letting his father do some of the things he did, and at first tried to protect her from his father’s abuse. But that died away after a while, Sev getting tired of getting hurt for someone who would not protect herself.
He did what any kid who did not want to deal with things going on at home would do. He walked around, explored. But he kept to himself, a shy sort, or more like anti-social type. That’s when he saw her. Lily Evans, a muggle born, with fiery red hair. He fell in love with her at first sight. When he finally worked up the courage to talk to her, he told her about her magical powers, and how she was special. The two of them became the best of friends.
Sev was going to run away at one point when he was around 8 years old after a nasty fight between his parents, and Sev was caught in the cross fire ending up with a huge bruise on his face (he tried to hide it, in vain, from Lily) and a bruise of finger prints on his arms from his father grabbed his arms extremely tight to move him out of the way. Apparently his father also hated when he didn’t agree with him, or didn’t chose a side, but stubborn Sev would not say whatever his father wanted him to, and thus was hurt more often. Lily suggested that Sev tell the authorities, but Sev knew his mother would not press charges and she would defend Tobias from any charges on child abuse. Lily said she’d come with him, but he didn’t want her to leave her family and run away with him, because it would make her life a lot harder. After all, her parents loved her (the same could be argued for her sister, he supposed). So he decided he would stay so Lily would stay with her family.
His Hogwarts letter came, just as Lily had a visit from Dumbledore to explain to her family magic and such. However, his father did not want him to go to Hogwarts. His father wanted him to attend his school that he had gone to. Sev refused, was hurt some more, and his mother, at risk to herself, went shopping with Sev and got him to the train for Hogwarts, as Sev really wanted to go to Hogwarts. Unfortunately, the train ride did not help Sev’s attitude because soon some toerags who would eventually be referred to as the Marauders played a prank on him and started a vendetta with him. Lily was still his friend though. At least there was that. And he met some nice foreign kids too. Mainly his best guy friend Vincent Chevalier.
He was then sorted into Slytherin, while Lily was a Gryffindor. The two promised they would stay friends despite the rivalry. Over the next few years his hatred for the Marauders grew, especially for James and Sirius (Sirius usually was the one who went a step too far and actually end up hurting him, such as the night with the werewolf incident and he discovered Remus was a werewolf). His friendship with Lily grew as well until it came to a screeching halt at the end of last year, when he let slip the word mudblood in reference to Lily. That whole year he had been getting closer to the Death Eaters, because his foreign friends had a civil war to fight and left a whole lot to go and fight in that war. He wanted friends desperately and the Death Eaters were the ones who opened their arms to him when he felt abandoned by his foreign friends. He and Lil y ended the friendship, and Sev became more reclusive and delved deeper into Dark Arts.
Later he would join the Death Eaters, hear a prophecy, tell Voldemort who would then target James and Lily Potter, beg Dumbledore to help Lily, and turn against the Death Eaters for good. He’d become the Potions professor and the Head of Slytherin House, and take out his hatred for James on their son Harry, though through everything truly look out for the boy’s wellbeing due to his beautiful eyes that were so Lily. Now that Voldemort’s back he’s playing triple agent, his true allegiance falling with Dumbledore, but playing it so that Voldemort believes him as true of a supporter as Bellatrix Lestrange.
